School
On this page I hope to show some ways I have come across to help my kids at school

  • Take a few moments out to help out with homework, even if it is go over it and tell them what you think.

  • Offer to show them a book or website that may offer them help on a subject and/or give them some advice on what they could do to improve.
But remember not to do it for them…Teachers need to know if/where kids are struggling that way they can help them in that area

  • My kids have a choice of either taking $5 to school on Fridays for lunch or saving it. They generally save and came up with near $200 each spending money for our Europe trip

  • Pre make sandwiches and freeze them for school lunches etc
This is such a wonderful idea when you sleep in or the kids sleep in just go to the freezer grad a sandwich out and your on your way if packed with a ice block they wont be defrosted til lunch and the kids will have a nice cool sandwich.
Don't forget to write on each individual sandwich bag its contents so there's no mix up

Suitable Fillings To Freeze:
Egg , Lean ham, beef, chicken, turkey, tuna, Cheese, Cream cheese, Peanut butter,Vegemite, marmite or promite
look on net for other foods that can be frozen

  • I have found school clothes to be so expensive on top of buying school bags books stationery shoes etc for 3 kids so I try to buy one set brand new then others 2nd hand. There are some good quality items in op shops and at the schools clothing pool if you take you time to look. And really who is going to know unless you tell them?

  • To show appreciation for my sons school and teachers. I made a little presentation. This is what I did,
On each laminated page I had a school photo from that year, his teachers, principal and school logo. I also wrote all their names what grade he was in and what year it was.. then I made a few collage pages to represent special occasions like graduation day, school excursions etc.
And on the back page I asked my son to say a few things and he wrote a small message to every single teacher and his principal. The hole punch holes down the side and used ribbon in the school colors to join them together and then he gave them to the teachers who loved it…
Why not do something like this maybe you could put all the teachers pics on one page and a collage on another with a pic of your child on the front and writing to state what it is all about…you can make it as simple as or an elaborate one

  • If you have young kids at school there is a good possi
  • bility you have encountered the dreaded head lice. aargh what a nightmare they can be...There are so many different treatments on the market that it is hard to know which one to choose. And I suppose you have heard of loads of home remedies as well, Some of which I totally freaked out at, I have heard of people using sheep drench, using very hot water to kill them...I think the some of the remedies at the chemist work well, I also think that buying a bottle of cheap white conditioner and coating the hair and combing through it works to..But as a preventative I would get your child to comb through their hair at least once a week just to make sure.. and when headlice are present comb the hair until they are gone, I have mixed some conditioner with water in a spray bottle this allows the cimb to glide through easier...Metal combs are much better than plastic as the teether dont  bend out of shape and in the long run are a cheaper way to go..
