Finance
Here I hope to help you with tips, tricks and advice on dealing with bills, debts, budgeting and general finance

  • Open an online bank account through your bank, these usually had fee free and if you don't touch it over a month u get bonus interest! Then work out a minimum you can spare each payday, that's right, a minimum. And set up an automatic transfer onto that account; if you’re not sure how to do this ask your bank. When it comes to the day before your due to get paid and you have Monet left over in your reg account transfer it over to yr online account, doesn't have to loads every dollar helps

  • Set up Automatic transfer for kids accounts. You can have any amount transferred on a regular basis direct into the bank account. No more going in and waiting in line, or waiting for the banks to open its all done automatically through online banking..You financial institute or Bank can help you set this up. Even if you set it up for $2 a week to come out when you get paid you wont notice it at all and when the statements come in your kids will be over the moon.

  • If struggling with a bill call and let them know, they usually extend the due date or set up a payment plan. Do this before the due date as it shows you are genuine.  You can also set up Bpay for most major bills and have regular amounts taken out
  • I used to play lotto until one day I worked out roughly how much I had paid out compared to how much I had won and I hadn't even won 10% of what I had spent.
So from then on the usual lotto money went into my online savings account. It ended up paying for a good size chunk of our Europe trip.
I do play the occasional game when there is a big jackpot after all you got to be in it to win it right?

  • My kids have a choice of either taking $5 to school on Fridays for lunch or saving it. They generally save and came up with near $200 spending money for our Europe trip

  • When selling on eBay consider you fees, there are listing fees, final value fees and of course paypal fees listen something for $0.99 will cost you  0.30c. If it sells for that the final value fee will be estimate of $0.06 and receiving paypal money of let's say $6 including $5 postage will cost you another $0.45 roughly. So in total you have paid $0.81 in fees out of your sale of $0.99 you made $0.18 profit!
So next time you go to sell on ebay make sure you consider the fees

  • Before making any kind of decisions, whether its opening a new account, getting a loan, anything at all, take all the information home and weigh it all up, also look more into things. look for other options. Some things to consider might be “could I save the money quicker and buy what I want outright and save on loan fees and interest”, “are the fees much better in my existing account over the long run or maybe I should consider another type of account” try and imagine 3 months down the road what the possibilities might be and look for both good and bad and then make your decision. you may be able to find what you are after cheaper somewhere else where you can afford to buy it or save to buy it quicker and cheaper than a loan or higher purchase.. oh and as I have suggested before online bank accounts are a great way to go but if you want to have access to your account on a regular basis and use it regularly check out accounts that have less fees for more transactions..
